Question 1

Can I install an AC unit myself, or should I hire a pro?

Accepted Answer

Del-Air recommends hiring a professional HVAC installer for central or ductless AC systems instead of attempting a DIY install. Most installation problems come from sizing and setup mistakes that reduce comfort, raise energy use, or shorten equipment life. A pro handles load sizing, safe electrical connections, refrigerant charging, and system commissioning so the new unit runs as designed. Our technicians often see new equipment underperform because the vacuum wasn’t pulled deep enough, leaving moisture that damages the compressor. We handle full-system installations across the Waverly area and can walk you through options, timelines, and what to expect. We also offer free replacement estimates and same-day service options. Hire a pro if any of these apply: - New refrigerant lines or charging are required - High‑voltage wiring or a dedicated circuit is needed - Duct changes or airflow balancing are involved - Smart thermostat integration and full system commissioning are desired Schedule a professional evaluation before purchasing equipment to confirm sizing and installation scope.

Question 2

How much does it cost to install central air with ductwork?

Accepted Answer

The cost to install central air with ductwork is confirmed after an in-home assessment, because pricing varies by home and scope. The biggest driver is home size and duct design, which determine equipment capacity and airflow needs. Other influences include whether ducts are brand new or can be reused, desired efficiency level, and how easy it is to access work areas. A seasoned tech checks static pressure first, not just tonnage, to decide what duct changes are smart. Our teams handle this work across Central Florida and often in homes near Babson Park. After the evaluation, we provide upfront pricing, with free estimates on new systems and financing as low as 0% on new A/C systems. Expect your estimate to reflect these specifics: - Square footage, insulation, and window gains from a Manual J calculation. - Ductwork plan: new runs vs sealing and balancing existing ducts; counts of supplies/returns. - Equipment choice and efficiency rating (SEER2) and whether you select a heat pump. - Installation conditions: attic or crawl access, electrical needs, and add-ons like humidity control or whole-home air purification. Schedule an on-site evaluation to receive accurate sizing and a precise written quote.

Question 3

How much does it cost to install a central air conditioner?

Accepted Answer

Installing a central air conditioner does not have a one-size-fits-all price; final cost is confirmed after an in-home assessment and written estimate. The largest driver is the system you select (central AC or heat pump) and its efficiency rating, followed by home-specific needs like existing ducts and desired controls. Our crews handle full-system installs across the Orlando area, including high-SEER2 central and ductless options with smart thermostat integration. We provide free replacement estimates and right-sized system recommendations before any work. A common technician finding: small duct or airflow fixes can improve comfort enough to avoid oversizing a new unit. If you want a clearer range, here’s what typically moves the number up or down: - Equipment type and efficiency (SEER2 rating) - Home size and load (how much cooling your rooms actually need) - Ductwork condition or modifications - Thermostat or control upgrades Schedule an in-home evaluation to get a firm, itemized quote for your home.
